Alessia Orro is an Italian volleyball player. She competed in the women’s tournament at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the 2019 Montreux Volley Masters, and the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League. Alessia Orro was awarded Best Setter at the Italian Serie A1 2022/2023, Volleyball Nations League 2022, and European Championships 2021, as well as the MVP at the CEV Cup 2020/2021. She is a bronze medalist at the World Championships 2022, gold medalist at the Volleyball Nations League 2022, and European Championships 2021.
Alessia Orro was born on July 18, 1998, in Oristano, Italy. She started in volleyball as a child and developed her skills in school.
Alessia Orro started her professional volleyball career in 2013 for Club Italia Crai in the Italian Serie B1. She stayed in the club for four seasons, playing in the Italian Serie A2 and Italian Serie A1. Her talent was noticed by the national volleyball coaches and she was called for the Italian junior national teams, winning the gold at the World Championships U19 2015 and the bronze at the World Championships U20 2015. In 2015 she was also called for the senior Italian national volleyball team to play at the World Grand Prix 2015 and 2017 and Rio 2016 Olympics.
In 2017, Alessia Orro signed with the CEV Cup runner-up Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio to play in the Italian Serie A1. With the team she stayed for three seasons, winning the CEV Cup 2018/2019, silver medals from the Italian Cup 2019/2020, and the bronze from the Italian Cup 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. With the Italian women’s national team, she won the bronze at the European Championships 2019 and Montreux Volley Masters 2019.
Alessia Orro moved to Vero Volley Milano in 2020, where is currently playing. With the club, she won the CEV Cup 2020/2021, as well as the silver at the Italian Serie A1 in 2021/2022 and 2022/2023, and also played in the Champions League. With the national team, she achieved great success, winning the titles at the Volleyball Nations League 2022 and European Championships 2021, as well as the bronze at the World Championships 2022. She also played at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
