Elena Koemmling is a German volleyball player, who plays as an Outside Hitter for USC Munster in the German Bundesliga. She is a bronze medalist of the German Cup and one of the most talented players in the country. She also played for the German youth national women’s volleyball team.
Elena Koemmling was born on January 1, 2000, in Dresden, Germany. She started in volleyball as a kid and showed her talent at the local club. She started playing for VC Olympia Dresden in 2010 and later continue her career with the team.
Elena Koemmling made her professional debut during the 2014/2015 season in the second Bundesliga. In the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons, she also played for the Bundesliga club Dresdner SC with the right to play a second game. The Outside Hitter also played for Germany’s youth and junior national teams but missed the U18 European and World Championships due to an injury. With Dresdner SC she won the German U18 and U20 championships (2016/2019).
In the 2019/2020 season, Elena Koemmling left Dresden and signed with the second-division club Vorwarts Sachsen Volleys Grimma. In addition, for the 2019/2020 season, she was granted a second game right for the first division team Schwarz-Weiss Erfurt, for whom she played selectively in the first Bundesliga. Among other things, she was used in the game against SSC Palmberg Schwerin on November 23, 2019, and in the Thuringia derby against VfB Suhl LOTTO Thuringen on December 21, 2019.
A curiosity occurred in the DVV Cup 2019/2020, as Elena Koemmling and Vorwarts Sachsen Volleys Grimma met their “second club” Schwarz-Weiss Erfurt on November 1, 2019. After five games, the higher-class club from Erfurt prevailed. With Vorwarts Sachsen Volleys Grimma, she took first place in the southern season of 2019/2020 Bundesliga 2 at the time the season ended. After a fifth place with Vorwarts Sachsen Volleys Grimma in the following season, Elena Koemmling switched to the first division club USC Munster in 2021, where is currently playing.
Elena Koemmling also played beach volleyball at various youth championships between 2014 and 2019.
