Jordyn Poulter is an American professional women’s volleyball player and current member of the United States women’s national volleyball team. Her position is a setter and she played for the University of Illinois from 2015-2018. She competed at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, where she helped lead her team to the gold medal.
Jordyn Poulter was born on July 31, 1997, in Naperville, Illinois. She grew up in Aurora, Colorado, attending high school at Eaglecrest High School. She was the overall No 3 nationally (and top setter) ranked recruit coming out of high school and won several state and national awards, including the Andi Collins award for the best setter in the country.
Jordyn Poulter started her career as a college volleyball at Illinois University team.
In 2018, she moved to Italy to play for Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri to play in the Italian Serie A1. She was a key player for the team, but unfortunately, the performance of the club was not much successful.
In 2020, she changed the team and signed with Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio. With the team she participated in the Europe Women’s Champions League, finishing third. The team performed very good in Italian Serie A1 and Italian Cup but remained 5th in the standings.
In 2022, Jordyn Poulter signed with Igor Gorgonzola Novara, where is currently playing.
At the international level, Jordyn Poulter was part of the US National Team that won a gold medal in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League tournament, as well as the 2019 Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup. In May 2021, she was named to the 18-player roster for the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League. Jordyn Poulter started the majority of the matches, and the USA won the gold medal for the third straight year after defeating Brazil. She was named “Best Setter” at the conclusion of the tournament.
On June 7, 2021, US National Team head coach Karch Kiraly announced she would be part of the 12-player Olympic roster for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. After starting all matches, Jordyn Poulter suffered an ankle injury in the final pool play match against Italy. The injury forced her to miss the quarterfinals versus the Dominican Republic however the USA was able to win the match after fellow setter Micha Hancock came in as a substitute. Jordyn Poulter successfully returned to lead her team to victories in the semifinals and eventually led Team USA to their first-ever gold medal in the women’s indoor competition. For her efforts, she was named the “Best Setter” of the Olympics.
